Whatever we give – whether it is our time, talent, or treasure – is a response to the faithfulness and goodness of God in our lives.
The Bible says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Your heart and conscience will be your best guide for what and how to give to God through the church. The Bible teaches us to give a tithe – the first 10% of one’s income – to God through the church. Those who practice tithing can testify to the great joy and freedom they receive from such generosity.
Your financial gift to the church can be mailed or given in person. Many people give through this website, enjoying a convenient and consistent way to give, without the hassle of having to write checks.
The United Methodist Foundation of Western North Carolina facilitates real estate, stock, and estate gifts to the church. Their services are provided as a free ministry to both the church and the donor.
Gifts of appreciated stock and real estate can offer tremendous tax advantages to the donor (that can often be taken over several years) while providing needed funds to the church’s ministries.
An increasing number of people are choosing to provide a gift to their church in their estate planning, by naming the church as a beneficiary in their will, life insurance, investment holdings, and other accounts, thereby providing a legacy gift that benefits the church for years to come.
