“Missions” refers to everything we do to share God’s love beyond the walls and people of Morehead.  We are seeking to be the hands and feet of Jesus around the corner and around the world.  Missions represent the “soul” of the church.  The church exists to be in mission; take away missions, and we can no longer rightly call ourselves a church!

Morehead is truly a congregation with a heart for missions.  The opportunities listed below represent some of our ongoing missions, but they are only a representative sample.  Stop in anytime to see what other missions we are involved in!

Greensboro Urban Ministries Bi-monthly meals prepared and served to Weaver House residents; on-going church community food collection; and twice yearly food collection at local grocery stores.

Greensboro Servant Center – The Servant Center provides hope and services to enable vulnerable, homeless and/or disabled people to be independent members of the community.  MUMC supports the center with donations of personal care items and by performing minor repairs to the center.

Christmas Store – MUMC joins over 27 area churches to provide needy families with Christmas gifts of toys and clothes.  We not only provide new clothing items but also numerous volunteers, including members of our Youth Group, to assist with the store.

Out of the Garden Backpack Project – By collecting selected food items, MUMC supports Out of the Garden in assisting families by providing food for children who qualify for free breakfast and lunch at school and who may not have enough to eat over the weekends.

Crop Walk – We sponsor walkers who participate in an annual 5K walk to raise money for Stop Hunger, a program to feed the hungry around the world.

Heifer Project -Families are asked to collect money throughout Lent and present their offerings on Palm Sunday to buy animals for the Heifer Project, and international program to end hunger and poverty.

Provide Support to Gordon & Ardell Graner, Our Missionaries in Bolivia

Mission Teams – Previous mission teams from MUMC have served in Mississippi; Appalachia; River of Life, Dallas, GA; and Torbec and LaGonave, Haiti.
